Job Description:

9-month faculty with academic rank of Lecturer of Music Education, serving as Director of Athletic Bands in the Department of Music. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for teaching/directing all ensembles related to athletic bands (specifically Marching Band and Basketball Band)
Responsible for organization, administration, and development of the marching band
program (including drill writing, supervision of students, travel, equipment/inventory management, and budgeting)
Teaching other undergraduate and graduate music and music education courses as needed by the department
As determined appropriate by the department chair, a portion of the workload will be dedicated to coordinating departmental recruiting activities for both the undergraduate and graduate music programs, including but not limited to:
- Working closely with local public school music educators to develop relationships and recruit future music majors
- Creating and executing purposeful recruitment strategies with other music faculty
- Actively collaborating with other faculty and staff at the department, college, and university-wide level to develop recruiting activities
- Attending and participating in all university and college recruiting activities (e.g.,preview days, SOARs, etc.)
- Attending and participating in state professional organizations for recruiting purposes in which travel will be required (i.e., college fairs)
- Assisting with departmental marketing and public relations activities
- Collecting, maintaining, and disseminating data related to recruiting and admissions activities
- Act as a liaison between prospective students and music faculty (graduate and undergraduate)
Collaborating with the Director of Bands, Percussion Director, and Jazz Band Director in the overall administration of the university band program
Other duties as assigned by the department chair

Qualifications:

Master's degree in music or music education required
3 years of teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated success working with athletic/marching bands
