Part-time hourly Continuing Education Instructors for courses offered under Y.E.S. (Youth Excellence and Success) Academy at Southwestern College.

DUTIES
Designs syllabus and curriculum as assigned
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
Designs interactive, hands-on, and motivational activities to fully engage students
Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals
Establishes clear objectives for all lessons and projects, and communicates these objectives to the students
Instructs students and facilitates their learning in accordance with program policies
Guides students in educational activities designed to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth
Teaches the essential skills that will contribute to students' development as educated and responsible adults
Teaches approved curriculum while creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Recognizes the special needs of students with learning disabilities, seeks assistance as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom
Teaches students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively
Updates materials periodically, and regularly monitors course evaluations and feedback in order to make adjustments and improvements to the curriculum
Applies technology and leverages resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum
Responds to student needs and questions
Creates a high-performance environment in which students of diverse backgrounds are motivated to succeed
Manages student classroom behavior and displays positive role modeling behavior
Creates a safe environment for all students
Participates in Y.E.S. Academy trainings and meetings
Communicates with Y.E.S. Academy Program Coordinator and staff on a timely basis
Completes other duties as assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree from an accredited institution is preferred; in exceptional cases a combination of education in progress and work experience may be accepted
Current knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in subject area
Experience working with elementary, middle, and high school students preferred
Experience working with high achieving students
Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information
Highly effective interpersonal skills
Experience designing curriculum and measuring student performance preferred

SALARY: $53 per instructional hour.
